Joseph Turvey Spring/Summer 2016 Menswear

Joseph Turvey is a London based menswear designer who recently completed his Masters from London College of Fashion in Fashion Design Technology. Originally from Shropshire, he began his training with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Womenswear Fashion Design. His interest in exploring traditional pattern cutting techniques and transferring them to unconventional fabrics soon became apparent with his first womenswear collection. The collection was selected to be shown at Graduate Fashion Week and took inspiration from the original Miss Marple, Margaret Rutherford. After completing his degree he began interning for London based designers Katie Eary and Louise Gray and illustrating for numerous fashion publications. His clean illustration style transfers into his menswear and explores the application of surface design through digital print. His design aesthetic takes inspiration from traditional menswear tailoring and textile surface design. Fusing these together with iconic figures such as David Attenborough and Edie Bouvier Beale. Iconic figures from the past and present enable him to create interesting and original menswear collections. His ability to explore textures and print within his designs challenges traditional menswear and pushes fashion design to new and interesting areas.
