Kuyichi

The Brand

The Earth is our home and its inhabitants are our neighbors. Together we share the responsibility for its wellbeing. After seeing how fashion has immense negative impact on ecological and social circumstances, we established KUYICHI:

The first conscious fashion brand. We started our journey in 2001. Since then we have innovated and inspired.

We were the first to introduce socially-responsible organic cotton jeans wear. And we lead the way in creating sustainable fashion from recycled cotton, recycled plastic bottles and alternative materials such as hemp and tencel. We’re happy to see that we raised the bar for many companies around us. We are a bunch of human beings joined by ideals. We give the best of ourselves to reach our goal. We made choices and mistakes, learning every time. Sometimes we struggled, but we never gave up. Join us on our journey and infuse us with your ideas. So that one day we and all other fashion brands can be fully sustainable.

For good.
Our heritage

Our name KUYICHI is derived from the Peruvian god of the rainbow who brought colour in society as well. Why Peru? The first organic cotton we used was Tanguis cotton from Oro Blanco in Peru.

What we believe

We believe sustainability isn’t just a trend. And it shouldn’t be the next generation’s job. We see it as our mission. Now and in the future. We’re convinced quality fashion should be created in a 100% sustainable and responsible way. And that we can look great and be good at the same time. Some people may call us idealists, we rather think of ourselves as realists. After all, the world we live in is real, the people we work with are real, and so are the choices we make.

History

In the year 2000 the founders of KUYICHI, NGO Solidaridad, wanted to introduce organic cotton in the clothing industry.

During their experience with the development of fair trade organic coffee and fruit business in Latin America, they found the cotton industry caused a lot of pollution and poverty among indigenous Indians and factory workers.

Solidaridad decided to make a change. First, Solidaridad tried to convince the big players in the denim industry to use organic cotton, in order to improve the working and living conditions in developing countries.

None of the brands were interested and Solidaridad started their own fashion brand in response.

In 2001 Kuyichi was born.
