MOLLY GODDARD AUTUMN/WINTER 2015-16 READY-TO-WEAR LONDON FASHION WEEK

MOLLY GODDARD AUTUMN/WINTER 2015-16 READY-TO-WEAR LONDON FASHION WEEK

West London native Molly Goddard began to specialise in traditional hand-craft techniques such as hand- pleating, smocking and crocheting during her BA in Fashion Knit at Central St Martins. Her work touches upon themes of special occasions, nostalgia and coming of age, often taking inspiration from party dresses and sunday best. The techniques that she utilises serve to create clothes that are both delicate and fragile, but the character she designs for conflicts with the beauty of her technique, and brings a clumsy and charming awkwardness to her silhouettes and fabric combinations.

After leaving her MA a year early, Goddard presented her first SS15 collection during September fashion week, 2014. The collection was shown at an off-schedule presentation in a Mayfair church hall, with the presentation taking the form of a teenager’s party. While a Portugese crooner sang karaoke hits in the background, twenty of Molly’s best friends modelled party wear-inspired dresses.

The success of Molly’s SS15 collection is reflected in her acquisition of three prestigious stockists: Dover Street Market London, Dover Street Market New York and IT Hong Kong. In addition, for Dover Street Market’s seasonal changeover Goddard was commissioned to create in-store installations that reflect her new collection.

Molly is supported by NEWGEN for AW15 and will present this collection on schedule at Somerset House.
