BAARTMANS AND SIEGEL MRTW Autumn/Winter 2014 STEALTH
UTILITY- STRENGTH- DURABILITY- INDULGENCE- AGGRESSIVE/ELEGANCE – REFINEMENT
Baartmans and Siegel’s winter collection reveals a characteristically indulgent dominance, which nestles between a sense of bleak minimalism, and
cloudy comfort. Drawing inspiration from isolated and challenging arctic landscapes, the presence of silent strength, beauty and confidence seems to be
infused within the fibre construction of each piece presented. The design duo wished to conjure an element of focused pursuit, action and journey
propelling the collection beyond the roots of wistful adventure.
Outerwear has become a defining aesthetic of Baartmans and Siegel, highlighting considered and crafted modern luxury with playful and indulgent
touches. This defining focus has lead to the much-anticipated exclusive collaboration between Penfield and Baartmans and Siegel. The capsule
collection offers 3 refined performance coats, featuring the best from both brands with curated and well-considered detailing, sharp tailoring, rubber
hardwear, the highest quality soft-shell outer layer and premium down insulation.
The three coats, inspired in cut by Penfield’s iconic performancewear, have been developed for ‘Life in the Open,’ ensuring durability, warmth, comfort
and style. Each of these elements has been enhanced through Baartmans & Siegel’s expertise in premium menswear tailoring and a luxurious product
details like hidden seams, pockets and zippers, high-impact cuts, jet black fur trims and linings.
Cold climates are literally interpreted though tonal navy, as well as nostalgically paying homage to the beloved shades of blue that surround menswear.
Achingly luxurious detailing and innovative considerations have been harmoniously joined through practical ergonomic refinement, such as the
reversible wool- suit-cut puffa jackets, and the sheered mink trench coat, handknit mohair fisherman sweaters and embroidered casualwear. The Formal
jogger bridges the gap of casual-to formal, as well as the relaxed flannel shirt/jackets.
The collection celebrates the clashing and complimenting juxtaposition of natural and man-made fibres. Water resistant, high-shine synthetics and
technical cloths, nodding to casual endurance. Down feather bomber jackets, coated cotton city car-coats, streamlined windbreakers and enhanced
parkas all sit neatly against the inky cool-blue British wools. Crafted with care and excellence by the renowned textile mill Hainsworth (Est 1783), truly
masculine silhouettes are ushered in to the male consciousness, through pronounced soft tailoring, formal dress-coats in doe-skin wool, Air- pilot wool
Harrington’s with crepe linings and fur trim demonstrate form & function, all adorning the signature envelope-welt pocket detailing to create a frivolous
twist. Rich and oversized vivid azurite Melton-wool parkas wave temptation, while a playful elegance has been added through-out using raw red salvage
edge detail on RAF bombers and suiting.
