CALLENS AUTUMN/WINTER 2015-16 READY-TO-WEAR LONDON FASHION WEEK

While other activewear brands have been capitalizing on yoga pants and neoprene jackets the past few seasons, Claire-Anne Stroll and Paul Helbers were hard at work filling in the gaps. Their brand, Callens, creates upscale activewear spliced with cashmere, silk, leather, and wool that actually looks good post-gym. (Or, you know, you could just skip the gym altogether and take a stroll in the buttery leather jackets.) A fitness fanatic with a taste for the finer things, Stroll launched Callens last September with a vision for classic activewear shapes—e.g., track pants, leggings, and mesh tops—elevated by the highest-quality materials. For Fall ’15, she started out with the idea of a simple hooded sweatshirt, whipping up a cozy cream hooded shearling coat and a waffle-knit-and-satin zip-up hoodie. Elsewhere, Stroll and Helbers played with Mongolian lamb collars and shaved beaver fur, layering them over mesh and tech fabrics for a lesson in restrained contrast. Where traditional active brands tend to feel cold and artificial, Callens makes a case for incorporating warmth, elegance, and true versatility in your on-the-go clothes. Plus, this season’s addition of nubuck bags and metallic or velvet sneakers means you can wear Callens from head to toe, day or night.
