CMMN is a menswear brand aiming to create hybrid quality wardrobe staples mixed with progressive standout pieces. Drawing inspiration from youth sub-cultures, fused with the elegance of classic sartorial menswear, CMMN propose a new image of masculinity.
CMMN was launched in 2012 in Malmö, Sweden’s multicultural and creative hot spot. CMMN is designed by Saif Bakir and Emma Hedlund, who first met in 2004 in London while studying at prestigious schools Central Saint Martins and London College of Fashion.
They both have a profound experience from the fashion industry, having worked at a series of renowned fashion houses such as Wooyoungmi, COS and most recently for Kanye West in Paris where the duo worked as Head of Design side by side. Setting up Kanye’s studio in Paris triggered the desire to start their own label.
CMMN’s collections are continuous, a story under constant development. Inspired by their diverse experiences there is a constant play on contrary elements that are interconnected and combined to create a balance. CMMN offers a hybrid of quality wardrobe staples and progressive design that appeals to the independent, self-confident individual who is not trend cautious but aspire to be conspicuous.
Two years in, CMMN has grown in popularity and gained international recognition with devoted followers and prestigious retailers such as Très Bien, Storm, VooStore, Harvey Nichols and SOTO. Swedish ELLE Magazine honoured CMMN in 2013 with their Best Newcomer Award.
For AW14 CMMN received the NEWGEN Men sponsorship by British Fashion Council to participate in London Collections: Men and SS15 was CMMN’s second season showing in London.
With the aim to establish CMMN as an influential and forward-thinking brand on the international fashion scene, CMMN has now established a studio in the creative heart of east London.
