EATUM JONES AW15’16 LONDON FASHION WEEK

IT’S not every day that a music legend walks into your studio, looks at your mood board and likens it to her life in pictures. It’s not every day, but it was a day for design duo Catherine Teatum and Rob Jones, otherwise known as Teatum Jones. They sought their inspiration this season from the Northern Soul movement and what turned out to be a new-found friendship with Gloria Jones – when in she walked. And so then she fully became part of the collection – the “Gloria” dress among this season’s offerings, which came back to home turf after a two-season inspiration hiatus with America. So the staple nods were there in heritage houndstooth and ginghams and even parquet flooring – where said Northern souls would truly find their souls – transformed into beading and patterns on dresses that came with feathers punctuating their skirts or that flared out from a svelte silhouette. There were the signature masculine nods too, and some great slouchy cardigans for days when you just don’t and shouldn’t care.
