ESPEROS came to life shortly after its founder, Oliver Shuttlesworth, returned from a trip to Central America. After witnessing the debilitating effects of extreme poverty on children in those areas, he became resolved to create a sustainable solution that would equip children in the developing world with the tools needed to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities for generations to come.
The idea for ESPEROS sprang from a question Oliver didn’t feel was being adequately addressed: why more than 75 million children in the developing world lack access to an education. With tuition costing as little as $15 USD in some countries, he found himself asking the big questions:
What can I do to help, and why am I not doing it?
After months of brainstorming, fueled by what some might call an unhealthy amount of coffee, Oliver came up with what he thought was a sensible solution: ESPEROS would sell backpacks and other book bags and help send a child in need to school for a year with each one sold.
At ESPEROS, we believe that education is one of the fundamental pillars of human dignity and empowerment & we give our customers the unique opportunity to change the life of a child with their purchase. When you make your purchase from ESPEROS, you do more than simply buy a bag: you carry hope
