EUDON CHOI AUTUMN/WINTER 2015-16 READY-TO-WEAR LONDON
IF there’s one thing Eudon Choi has always been very good at, it’s outerwear: it’s what he’s built his label on since he launched it back in 2009 – whether he realises it or not. And perhaps sometimes he hasn’t – last season, quite rightly for the spring/summer season, he left that behind in favour of something more feminine and floral, but today the two combined for a collection that, as the designer described post-show, went back to the “old him”. So great solid leather jackets with geometric configurations inspired by the Japanese architectural movement Metabolism came out and were combined with Seventies flares in wallpaper florals of teal and shocking pink. “To feel fresh and new,” reasoned the designer of the combination, adding that research into Brutalism had set him off on this train of thought. It was good to see him back on track – he knows how to do wearable pieces that have solid commercial appeal and the jackets here were the winners.
