HUISHAN ZHANG AUTUMN/WINTER 2015-16 READY-TO-WEAR LONDON FASHION WEEK
WE know that Huishan Zhang can do light-as-air and elegant, but the designer decided to show that there was more to him than just that with a collection this season that opted for a rock ‘n’ roll edge (to begin with certainly) when it wasn’t going down an evening gown route.
“This season was about highlighting that there are two sides to every story and beauty is found in the eye of the beholder,” he told us. And so the first looks out were quite a departure from what we know him for – trousers and tops or cardigan coats, yet styled chicer than such a description can convey.
But then the layers peeled away to make way for long lace dresses, shorter ones styled with natty little jackets. Zhang had always had his mind focused on combining the contemporary with his Chinese heritage and this collection achieved that. We know he can do a great dress but sometimes it’s good to see how that can manifest in a blouse and beyond to make it just as covetable, which is what he did.
