JAMES KELLY AW15’16 READY-TO-WEAR LONDON FASHION WEEK

JAMES KELLY AW15’16 READY-TO-WEAR LONDON FASHION WEEK

The intricate draping and construction of James Kelly’s Autumn/Winter 2015 collection at London Fashion Week easily speaks for the designer’s penchant for crafting ornate garments. Evident through his use of softly hanging dresses and aggrandized coats that manage to still have a sense of structure to them, oversized collars, buckle and strap accents, raw seams, and mixed textiles all lent an additional hand in Kelly’s utilitarian vibe, creating an incredibly detailed collection that was innovative without feeling overwhelming. A loosely fitted fur coat was slung atop a simple wide leg trouser with an exaggerated ribbon belt, a coat, that could most likely double as a sleeping bag, was worn atop a silky dress, and a trench coat gown hybrid was featured in the richest camel. Creating garments with silhouettes that haven’t been seen, woven with details that are truly his own, this collection is the utmost testament to the fact that this is just the beginning of a prosperous journey.
