JASPER CONRAN AUTUMN/WINTER 2015-16 READY-TO-WEAR LONDON FASHION WEEK
LEAVES on the catwalk told us ahead of the first look’s debut that Jasper Conran has been thinking especially about your autumnal look this year. Well, not yours necessarily – not if you’re a “wrap up as warmly as possible and pull your wellies on “kind of girl – but he’s been thinking about the sort of girl who’s always elegant and appropriately attired, whatever the weather or occasion. The kind of girl you want to be. This winter, Conran plans to cloak you in richness – from the palette to the embellishment and fabrics. Plum, mulberry, russet, navy, olive and rich brown were cut with the occasional bright print – violet pansies or geometric citrus – green hexagons – in a plethora of tactile fabrics: heavy cashmere wool; haircalf; patchworked suede; sheepskin; silk and devoré velvet. Pulling up weeds, clearing leaves from the driveway or chopping wood for the fire: Conran’s girl may struggle. But a genial country walk or apple-picking session? She’ll just grab her fedora and go.
