MARCHESA AUTUMN/WINTER 2015-16 READY-TO-WEAR NEW YORK

AFTER a last season hiatus to London, Marchesa was back on the New York Fashion Week schedule today flying the flag for Hollywood glamour. Because, let’s face it, that’s the only place you could wear one of this label’s creations – and you’d need your own car (perhaps a limo) and a red carpet invite as your only accessories. It’s alright for some. But for those lucky few, the sartorial vibes they’ll be experiencing have a distinct Downton Abbey feel about them – the series we’ve just seen in the UK, set in the Twenties. Feathers wafting in the breeze of evening gowns sauntering by, hair in Clara Bow waved bobs and frills and tiers on skirts to match that of any Daisy Buchanan, this was all very glamorous and with the Oscars looming will have been the ideal last-minute parade for anyone not decided on their outfit yet.
