STEPHAN JANSON AUTUMN/WINTER 2015-16 READY-TO-WEAR LONDON FASHION WEEK

Stephan Janson was born in France, a long time ago (1957). As a gluttonous child, he dreamed of becoming a Pastry Cook, then, aged 8, switched to another dream: Couturier! For undisclosed motives, he has stuck to this dream ever since. Credits for this passion are due to eminent characters, in order: Yves Saint Laurent, Kenzo Takada, Diane Furstenberg, and later to the many people who let him believe he had some talent. His fist job in the care-free late 70’s was in Paris, then NYC in the ghastly 80’s, followed by a brief stint in Tokyo before launching his own brand in Milan (1989). The Milan move was purely for personal reasons. He has now got used to the city and actually quite enjoys it. Work and luck brought him fantastic moments. There were hard times too. He made quite a few mistakes, and always gave priority to his freedom. But he kept faith to his creed to create timeless clothes. Today he is a reliable accomplice for women, and his label is distributed in a few selected shops around. When not working in Milan, he can be found gardening in Northern Morocco.
