Tanya Taylor – Pre Spring/Summer 2016 Ready-To-Wear

Tanya Taylor shot her lookbook on a mossy patch of Connecticut land, with colored smoke bombs exploding in the background of each picture. It was a cool effect that complemented the bursts of color in her lively prints, including a hand-painted floral that landed on pretty chiffon dresses and skirts, which were often accented with sporty striped belts. There was something bold and determined about this collection, from the confident color-blocking on an A-line skirt to the punchy embroidered striped cuffs and sash on a chambray Tencel shirtdress. Knitwear is 40 percent of Taylor’s business, so she doesn’t mess around when it comes to wool. The most successful effort was a 3-D jacquard sweater in pale pink. The textured piece wasn’t so much “look at me” as it was “hey, I’m here.”
