THAKOON ADDITION AW15’16 READY-TO-WEAR NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

Fall found Thakoon Panichgul heading to a place he knows well: “deep into the codes” that have come to distinguish his clothes. It was an idea he had kicked around in his main line for Pre-Fall, and this season Addition got the greatest-hits treatment. Panichgul’s print fixations yielded combos of plaid on plaid, a coat in dense, spotted intarsia, and a great pieced-together silk jumpsuit in foulard prints. His crafty-cool knits were out in force, including a camel and cream fringed number with trompe-l’oeil layers, and a chunky cable-knit poncho.

Novel hybrids have swelled, becoming fairly a category unto themselves—a slipdress-sweater, a denim jacket-poncho, and blanket coats with big scarves built right in. The one Addition code that was notably scarce was shirting, which has been a core element of the line’s last few outings. The lone piece here was a crisp, striped button-down edged in frayed denim. The overall feel was certainly younger than the Thakoon main line, but the collection was sophisticated nonetheless: Plenty of these pieces are sure to please.
