“Calzaturificio Emanuela” was established in 1956 as a sole proprietorship by Luciano Passeri, the head of the Passeri family. Passeri put his craftsmanship and creativity to work to begin creating women’s footwear. He started out in a small workshop in the town of Petriano, in the Marche region, near Urbino – a Unesco heritage site and the birthplace of the painter Raffaello Sanzio.
In an area of Italy that became synonymous with a keen sense of aesthetics down through the centuries, Passeri footwear was immediately singled out for its refinement and beauty, becoming the talk of the entire province within a few years and thus spurring on the founder to expand the small family-run business. Luciano made the most of his passion and talent and built a modern factory, without ever neglecting his innate craftsmanship, which represents the true soul of Calzaturificio Emanuela.
Within the space of a few years the company grew and evolved, creating new sample collections, but it took a definitive leap in terms of quality in the 70’s, when Emanuela, Passeri’s eldest daughter, joined the company. She brought a combination of innate talent for footwear and an in-depth knowledge of model making, along with her refined feminine taste in the selection of leathers, heels and accessories. Emanuela became the true soul of the company, so much so that it was called after her. The evolution that followed Emanuela’s entry into the company led to the creation of new beautiful sample collections, that accompany women’s fashion as it changes year after year. However, one of the company’s immovable characteristics remains the “handcrafted” look that is ever-present, even with the arrival of modern machinery that facilitates manufacturing.
During the 80’s, Passeri’s second eldest daughter, Maura, also joined the company, teaming up with Emanuela and taking over the administrative side of company affairs. During the 90’s, Passeri’s third daughter, Francesca, also started work at the company, she is responsible for customer service and production, and lends her support to Emanuela in stylistic choices.
Three women standing at the helm of the Emanuela Passeri company certainly makes this one of the few companies in the world with women creating footwear for women, and thanks to this characteristic, it manages to grasp the utmost in terms of taste and style in the feminine universe!
